There is a lot of End Times mythology throughout history.
We shouldn't forget, as our leaders seem to have that we are all equal under the bomb.
These brief lines remind me of how little it takes to motivate armies.

Ah, yes, I always forget about that "other" meaning for the word "myth," which you explore very pointedly here. (I.e, I tend to think of "myth"/mythology as deep truth, as opposed to falsehood.)
